Keep Britain Tidy announces a record-breaking number of award-winning parks and green spaces for 2014.

North Bradley Peace Memorial Trust Recreation Ground in is one of the very best in the UK – and that’s official.

The recreation ground is among a record-breaking 1,476 parks and green spaces that will receive a prestigious Green Flag Award.

The award, handed out by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, recognises and rewards the best parks and green spaces across the country. A Green Flag flying overhead is a sign to the public that the space boasts the highest possible standards, is beautifully maintained and has excellent facilities.

North Bradley Peace Memorial Trust Recreation Ground, BA14 0SH has existed since 1944, when it was donated for the villager’s use, especially homecoming soldiers.

Trustee Sue Hawker said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive a Green Flag Community Award for the 7th year from Keep Britain Tidy. Ours is the only site in Wiltshire to receive this award which recognises and highlights that people in North Bradley are benefiting from a green space of the very highest quality.  We will be celebrating our achievement at the annual fete and dog show on site on Saturday 30th August, the grand opening will be performed at 11am by local school headteacher, Jeanette O’Brien.  The facilities are often enjoyed by the pupils as part of their lessons as well as providing recreation and a focal point for the whole village.  We look forward to seeing as many local people as possible on the day!

Keep Britain Tidy’s Green Flag Award scheme manager Paul Todd said: “We are delighted to announce yet another record-breaking year for Green Flag Award parks and green spaces.

“A Green Flag Award provides national recognition for all the parks managers, staff and volunteers who, through their dedication and hard work, have helped to create these fantastic places for everyone to enjoy.

“Quality green spaces are a vital resource for communities and that is why it is so significant that we have given out more awards than ever before.”
