We are asking you all for your Tesco votes for our play area safety project!  You can vote in the Trowbridge store from 2 to 28 January on who should receive the £5,000, £2,000 and £1,000 awards.

Tesco teamed up with Groundwork to launch the monthly funding scheme, which sees grants of £5,000, £2,000 and £1,000 – all raised from the 5p bag levy – being awarded to local outdoor community projects.

Three groups in every Tesco region have been shortlisted to receive the cash award and this month shoppers are being invited to head along to Tesco stores to vote for who they think should take away the top grant.

North Bradley Peace Memorial Trust is one of the groups on the shortlist, our project ‘Safe Children’s Play Area’ will ensure that the longstanding problem of an onsite water-filled ditch can be addressed whilst also generally enhancing the experience for all using the site.

Bags of Help offers community groups and projects across the UK a share of revenue generated from the 5p charge levied on single-use carrier bags. The public will now vote in store from 2 to 28 January on who should receive the £5,000, £2,000 and £1,000 awards.

KEEP BRITAIN TIDY NEWS RELEASE

North Bradley Peace Memorial Trust recreation ground is named as one of the best in Britain

More parks and green spaces than ever will be flying the Green Flag Award this year – more than 1,582 across the UK.

The Peace Memorial Trust recreation ground in North Bradley is one of the very best in the UK – and that’s official.

The recreation ground is among a record-breaking 1,582 parks and green spaces that will today receive a prestigious Green Flag Award – the mark of a quality park or green space.

The award recognises and rewards the best parks and green spaces across the country. A Green Flag flying overhead is a sign to the public that the space boasts the highest possible standards, is beautifully maintained and has excellent facilities.

Trustee Sue Hawker said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive a Green Flag Award for the 9th time from Keep Britain Tidy and believe ours is the only such site in Wiltshire.

“This Award recognises and highlights that people in North Bradley are benefiting from a green space of the very highest quality.

International Green Flag Award scheme manager Paul Todd said: “We are delighted to be celebrating another record-breaking year for the Green Flag Award scheme. All the flags flying this year are a testament to the efforts of the thousands of men and women, both staff and volunteers, who work tirelessly to maintain the high standards demanded by the Green Flag Award.”

The Big Lunch

Do come along to enjoy the play area for a teddy bear’s picnic!

We have finally found a suitable company to do the urgent repairs and are looking forward them being started soon. Many thanks for supporting our recent events as the profits will go towards the cost (iro £3,500). The clearing of the ditch is almost complete ready for replanting in the autumn when we will be asking for helpers again!
