Tesco teamed up with Groundwork to launch the monthly funding scheme, which sees grants of £5,000, £2,000 and £1,000 – all raised from the 5p bag levy – being awarded to local outdoor community projects.
Three groups in every Tesco region have been shortlisted to receive the cash award and this month shoppers are being invited to head along to Tesco stores to vote for who they think should take away the top grant.
North Bradley Peace Memorial Trust is one of the groups on the shortlist, our project ‘Safe Children’s Play Area’ will ensure that the longstanding problem of an onsite water-filled ditch can be addressed whilst also generally enhancing the experience for all using the site.

Please come and help with this special initiative. Let’s tidy up the winter litter and get the park looking it’s best ready for the Easter egg hunt! Wear suitable clothing and footwear, please bring tools if you want to tackle any pruning etc. No unaccompanied children.
Do come along to enjoy the play area for a teddy bear’s picnic!
We have finally found a suitable company to do the urgent repairs and are looking forward them being started soon. Many thanks for supporting our recent events as the profits will go towards the cost (iro £3,500). The clearing of the ditch is almost complete ready for replanting in the autumn when we will be asking for helpers again!
the tree that had blown over onto the back of the hall and roof, luckily no real damage
was caused, as well as finishing removing rubbish and bramble from the play area ditch.
As it is really too late in the season for planting we have decided to concentrate on ensuring
the bank is weed free before planting the donated Woodland Trust hedging saplings
and Grow Wild seeds in early autumn.
Very many thanks to everyone who came to help tidy the play area . We cleared numerous trailer-loads of brambles and dead wood, several bags of assorted rubbish and even discovered a dumped bathroom basin!
As a temporary measure some plastic fencing has been put in place to keep the ditch out of bounds until the strands of barbed wire etc can be removed and a permanent fence installed to fill the far end gap. All helpers welcome to help with the next session!
